Pick a breathing exercise.

Not sure? Start with the long exhale.

If you feel dizzy, stop and breathe normally.

Breathing exercises, paced for you

Pick a breathing exercise and a soft circle sets the pace. The long exhale helps most with anxiety, because a longer breath out tells your body it is safe.

There is also box breathing for focus, 4-7-8 breathing for sleep, and calm breathing at about six breaths a minute. You do not need an account. Nothing is saved.

How it goes

  1. Pick a breathing pattern.
  2. Follow the circle: in, hold if asked, out.
  3. Notice how your body feels after a minute.

Common questions

What is the best breathing exercise for anxiety?

Many people find a long exhale helps most: breathe in for 4 and out for 6. A breath out that is longer than the breath in helps the body slow down.

How long should I do breathing exercises?

One to two minutes is often enough to feel a change. You can do a few rounds any time in the day.

What is the difference between box breathing and 4-7-8?

Box breathing keeps every step at 4 counts and is good for focus. 4-7-8 has a long hold and a long breath out, and many people use it to fall asleep.

Is it normal to feel dizzy?

A little light headed can happen if you breathe too deeply. Stop and breathe normally. Try smaller, gentler breaths next time.
